Usability Testing
I recruited my own user and wrote a usability test script so that I could find out more as to why 2 of the apps that I had chosen (Smith Hotels and Klook) were successful, unsuccessful and how I could use this key information to refine the design of my app.
I sent out an email inviting the user to a Zoom call and recorded the 1hr session with Let's View, this allowed mirroring and recording of the phone screen the user was testing, as well as the user - to gauge their behaviours in response to positive interactions, pain points and any other useful observations.
Note-taking
I took detailed notes from 2 usability tests which had been pre-recorded, the users were testing hotel booking apps Barceló and The Doyle Collection. As welI as my own conducted usability test for hotel booking apps Smith Hotels and Klook.
I focussed on the goals, behaviours, context, positive interactions, and pain points for each user. This helped to highlight the key insights from the sessions and helped make decisions about design later on.
